Dr. Allan Handysides is currently Director of Health Ministries for the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Prior to his present position, he practiced for the last twelve years as a physician in Toronto, Canada. He has also previously been a teaching fellow and staff member at the Hospital for Sick Children. Handysides served as medical director of Maluti Adventist Hospital in Africa (1979) and medical director for the Trans-Africa division (1981). Dr. Handysides has two specialties: obstetrics/gynecology and pediatrics. He was ordained as a minister in Africa in 1983.

Jane Sabes joined Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, in 1999 as Associate Professor of Political Science offering such courses as Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, Areas Studies. She earned a doctorate from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, with primary focus of study being international public policies. Additional educational experience includes a Masters in Public Health Administration, a Masters in Public Administration, a 1981 Harvard Fellow, and a 1992 Fellow with the US Government, Washington, DC. Sabes is a member of the International Political Science Association, the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, and the American Society for Public Administration.

Elie Wiesel received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, 1986. His Nobel citation reads, “Wiesel is a messenger to mankind. His message is one of peace, atonement, and human dignity. The message is in the form of a testimony, repeated and deepened through the works of a great author.” He is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University and the author of more than thirty books. Described as a “modern prophet,” a “moving writer,” a “brilliant teacher," and a “witness,” the survivor of Auschwitz stands at the forefront of current events, and on the world stage, he has become the symbol of remembrance and conscience. Mr. Wiesel lives in New York City with his family.
